About Us

For more than 30 years, MDGuidelines has provided quality, dependable clinical decision support. Our health and productivity solutions have been the first choice of leaders seeking guidelines for occupational health since 1991.

MDGuidelines was originally created by Dr. Presley Reed who found a lack of medical advice regarding the objective recovery timeframes for individuals to return to activity after an injury or illness. Today, lost productivity due to injury and illness costs U.S. employers more than $530 billion per year. Research indicates that returning to activity after an injury or illness benefits both the physical and mental health of individuals while providing improved productivity and healthcare savings for employers.

The MDGuidelines Team

The MDGuidelines team is dedicated to maintaining and improving the MDGuidelines product, the industry gold standard for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and return-to-activity information and durations.

The MDGuidelines team works in close collaboration with the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and a university-based research team from the University of Utah’s Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health. Together we ensure that multidisciplinary panels of medical experts supporting the guideline development are enlisted to develop the highest-quality clinical information for use by clinicians, case managers, employers, and disability professionals.
